PLOT in BATIMAT Expovivienda 2012. For second time in a row, PLOT was present in one of the most important annual events of the construction sector of the region. PLOT’s stand was designed by our team with the valuable collaboration of NET.
PLOT recommended books. A review of various new books recommended by our editors: Cathelijne Nuijsink’s “How to make a japanese house?”, Sol Arrese and Lanfranco Ezpeleta’s “Vuelta a la manzana” and “PRODUCTORA” with texts by Mauricio Pezo, Kersten Geers and Miquel Adria.
White over white. Nicolas Feldmeyer commands a site-specific ephemeral installation inspired by the density of the door of the Wilkins building at University Collage London.
Space wins. JDS + BIG recover the last floors of a buildiing in the center of Copenhagen; with the construction of this new floor, the building wins a little park for children, a gazebo and three more units.
Tomás Saraceno at MET. Fernando Bruno writes about the recent installation of the Argentinean artist at the terrace of the museum.
Idea of park. Four parks around the world presented by Javier Agustín Rojas.
Paseo St. Joan. The first selected park consists in the recuperation of a historic boulevard in Barcelona, Spain. The project by Lola Domènech works silently with mixed pavements.
Parque de la música en Sevilla. A big scale intervention by Costa-Fierro links the urban fabric disrupted by a new railway line.
Miyashita Park. Inmersed in the hyperdensity of Tokyo, this park by Atelier Bow-Wow hears it’s users, appling the micro public space concept.
Plaza Infico. The Argentineans Moscato Schere Todo Terreno designed this park in Tigre (Buenos Aires) as a urban hit.
Jimenez’s superfurniture. The terms of reality and fiction lack of sense in the work of Jimenez Lai. In this article, three cases give example of one of his biggest obsessions- leaving aside the comic: what happens with furniture too big, or a building too small? He sets out to research in various experiments. But attention! He’s installations, some permanent and some temporary, should not be understood as isolated objects but as the corpus of a larger work: Jimenez Lai himself.
Alberto Campo Baeza. The writing “Construir con el aire, el viejo sueño del arquitecto” (To build in the air, the old architect’s dream) set the spirit for the publication, in high detail, of the Offices for Consultivo de la Junta de Castilla y León.
P-A-T-T-E-R-N-S. The work of Marcelo Spina and Georgina Huljich is developed in the most diverse latitudes: Los Ángeles, Rosario, Chengdu. With an introduction by Javier Agustín Rojas, we travel around three projects: an administration in China, an art gallery in Sunset Boulevard of Los Angeles and a collective housing Project in Rosario. These different proposals exemplify the digital design strategies y its links with material realities.
Amado-Cattaneo Arquitectos. “Rigorous, clear, well constructed and cute” said Rodolfo Machado about this young Argentinean architect. Florencia Medina present his work illustrated with the highly detailed publication of Casa Encuentro.
Social Housing. We portrait some strategies of contemporary social housing: New Carver Apartments by Michael Maltzan Architecture, Vivienda de Patrón by IND inter.national.design and Pradolongo Housing by Wiel Arets Architects.
